Sensitivity of Circuit Boards to Sulfur

Recent enactment of legislation (see by the European Union to band the use of lead and other materials from manufactured products has changed the method of how circuit boards are being assembled worldwide. The replacement of lead-based solder by immersion silver has greatly increased the sensitivity of circuit boards to airborne sulfur from sulfur-based modeling clay. In the future, anything with a newly manufactured circuit board, including computers, cell phones, wrist watches, etc. can be susceptible to airborne sulfur.
